Paraguay

Paraguay is one of the original four World Links pilot countries in Latin America. The Program is being developed within the framework of the National Policy on New Technologies in Education.

For the initial phase of the project, 12 schools were selected from various administrative zones of Asuncion in early 1998. Building on the success of this initial phases of the project, World Links recently partnered with Schools Online to add 10 new schools to the existing 50 schools participating in the World Links program, to reach a total of 60 schools. Schools Online financed computers, networking equipment and technical support for the 10 new schools, while World Links financed extensive teacher professional development in the use of technology to improve teaching and learning, local pedagogical support and funding for independent evaluation of program impact. 545 teachers have received World Links training, and 315 of them are actively participating in leading over 3000 students in 30 collaborative projects.
