World Links in Chile

Chile was one of the original four World Links pilot countries in Latin America. World Links worked closely with the Enlaces Program on Educational Technology, developed by the Chilean Ministry of Education under the auspices of the Universidad de la Frontera. Fifteen public schools were selected for the initial phase of the project in 1998, located in diverse regions of the country (Arica, Santiago, Los Angeles, Concepcion, Temuco, Valdivia, Osorno, Puerto Montt, Chiloe and Punta Arena). The selected schools have anywhere between one and four years of working with information and communication technology.

World Links expanded to over 140 schools throughout the 4500km length of Chile, with 482 teachers and 11,250 students trained in the program. 40 training activities were held in 2003 year and 32 collaborative projects were completed in a variety of subjects.
