Stephanie, VilaTEC Telecenter

Stephanie is a third year student at the secondary school who first had contact with computers at a private school in Baní, a provincial town 25km from Villa Fundación.

Stephanie has computer access in her home, but VillaTEC Telecenter is a where she does most of her schoolwork.  She says, “VillaTEC Telecenter has helped me a lot on work that my teachers assign because I use the electronic encyclopedias and the internet to do research and to communicate with friends and family.  I have never used chat to do scientific research, but it sounds interesting.”

She wants to study hotel administration and tourism and thinks that technology, specifically computers, will be a support tool that will be essential in her professional life.
