Tanja Tasevska English Teacher, Kumanovo
Tanja Tasevska teaches English at the agricultural secondary school in Kumanovo, a small town in northeastern Macedonia. Most of Tanja’s students live in a rural environment and are primarily interested in studying agriculture. Her major challenge is to motivate them when it comes to other subjects, such as language and art.
“Motivating them is the biggest challenge” she says.
She’s been working with the e-Schools project since it started in 2005. One part of the project is teacher training for innovative use of computer technology in education. Amongst other activities, e-Schools has focused on helping teachers integrate the use of information and communication technology (ICT) into all of their subjects.
Tanja is one of the youngest teachers in the program. She has been among the first teachers who welcomed and accepted the project.
“In order to improve the quality of education, it is very important to implement changes in learning programs. Computers are the key to success” - Tanja says.
This year, with the support of e-Schools and an IT teacher, Tanja started to teach English using the e-Schools computer lab. Her students are thrilled and are suddenly paying more attention.
