Natalija Aceska, Biology Teacher, Prilep

Natalija Aceska is a Biology teacher in a secondary school in Prilep. Her happiness was endless when she started to work, because she was waiting for a job almost nine years.

After the first E-school seminar in March she and her colleague received “homework” to do a project within their  schools where they  had to choose students, and create a team to work together.  Their research was referring to what type of food students take outside of school.  They had a very serious approach to this project and the results were announced as one of the five best in Macedonia.  Natalija was  very proud.  The seed was planted.

 After that she was promoted as an assistant in second seminars with E-schools.  There she had precious experiences.  Her informatics skills began to develop.  In front of her was a big field of opportunities.  Next, she was promoted to Regional Coordinator and she had new colleagues from all around Macedonia.  With newfound confidence she found herself trying to be the best she could and keep improving- all because of the confidence she found within E-schools.

After E-schools her activities ignited.  Using her  IT skills, she realized she can give information to her  students to increase their own knowledge.  Thanks to this knowledge, together they created a project for a national competition and the student won!  She got 3^rd place in the national level and received a scholarship.  It was great.

After that she applied in the name in school, through the internet for implementing the school in   GLOBE program.  And she success again, because they allowed them to be a part of this great program.  Her collaboration with Peace Corps through the help of GLOBE continues to strengthen.  And that’s not the end.  There will be more to come. 

For all this activities which were  happened  for the last year Natalija says:

"My dream come trough. Finally I find my selves. All my activities connected with E-school project made me very fulfilled. My hidden ideas are waked and I plane to realize all of them because I am filling so strong.  Before I started to work for E-school me and my husband were worried how to collect money for my older daughter education. Actually she is an excellent student and she want to study out of Macedonia. Now my salary which I received from this project is for here, and for here future."

But Natalija has more successes. Thanks to her experience with E-schools she got the courage to write an ecology book. She is   currently writing with her GLOBE colleague from Croatia.  It will be the first book of this type in Macedonia.  She would like to help the community and the education with the topics in it.  In this project, her E-schools colleagues help her lot, and she knows she will finish successfully because of their support.

She initiated a celebration of Earth Day on national level, but the main activities will be  in Prilep.  Besides the Ministry of Ecology, the American Embassy, E-school team and Peace Corps administration are all planning to attend.   It will be the first Earth Day celebration in her country in this way, and she is  proud because she have had the courage and great E-schools experience and ideas to create this program, using the experience and ideas from  internet too.

Her success from E-schools has now come full circle.  She thought that is happier than ever. She hope that will be part of E-schools for a long time because she want to be happy like this for a long time.
