World Links Arab Region

World Links Arab Region is the Arab holding of World Links. The mission is to improve educational outcomes, economic opportunities and global understanding for youth in the Arab region through the use of technology and the Internet. Teachers learn to integrate participatory learning techniques and technology into the classroom for improved educational results. These skills enable youth to participate successfully in the global knowledge-based economy when they leave school.

WLAR has a core set of education technology activities focused on bringing underserved communities into the information age. These activities draw from World Links’ longstanding global experience in the field of education technology and reflect understanding of local contexts. In all cases, WLAR works closely with key stakeholders - governments, non-governmental organizations, corporations, development agencies, and communities - to ensure ownership and sustainability of efforts.

World Links Arab Region was established to operate programs in any of the 22 Members of the League of Arab States and in conjunction with youth throughout the world. The Jordan Program was launched in 2003. The Yemen Program, and the regional Shaqa’iq program was launched in 2004.
