Sam Carlson, Co-Founder, World Bank Economist
Sam has worked on improving education systems in developing countries for over fifteen years as the first Executive Director of World Links and at the World Bank. Sam started World Links within the World Bank and then led its spin-off as an independent non-profit organization based in Washington, DC. He has worked in Africa, Latin America, the Arab Region and Asia, including four years in the field in Mali and another four years based on the island of Hispaniola working in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Before entering the field of international development, Sam was a secondary school teacher of history and French in Connecticut, USA. He has a BA in International Relations and Education from Dartmouth College and a Masters in Public Administration from Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School. He has three children, all of whom (he hopes) will engage in international on-line collaborative projects in the near future!
