Zimbabwe
World Links has been active in Zimbabwe since mid-1999, when twelve information and communication technology (ICT) centres were established, one in each provincial capital (Bindura, Bulawayo, Chinoyi, Gwanda, Gweru, Harare, Marondera, Masvingo, Mutare) and three others in growth points (Gutu, Kwekwe, Mpopoma). Each pilot World Links centre is strategically located to serve a surrounding cluster of schools (e.g., five schools), each with 8 – 10 computers, printer, a separate phone line for Internet access, and a trained teacher to introduce the appropriate use of computers and Internet across the curriculum.
