an Orphan One of the most unfortunate outcomes of the AIDS epidemic is the number of children who have been left without parents, and thus many times without a home. The United Nations Joint Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) estimates that there are currently over 13 MILLION AIDS orphans worldwide. UNAIDS defines an AIDS orphan as a child under the age of 15 years old who has lost both parents or just their mother to AIDS. Because of this tragedy, World Links for Development (WorLD) would like to give you the opportunity to sponsor an orphan. Besides food and clothing, many orphans lack schooling. However, it costs just US$50 a YEAR to send an orphan to school. If you are interested in helping, please contact the WorLD HIV/AIDS Project Coordinator, at klofbloo@yahoo.com. Or, contact one of the following organizations directly. These organizations were chosen by the Project Coordinator during her year working in Zimbabwe with the Zimbabwe AIDS Network, a Zimbabwean non-governmental organization which aims to help local groups serve the HIV/AIDS prevention and care needs in their communities.
